The HD 990 has two features to add to the usual CD player set: digital inputs (to use its high-grade converter as an upgrade DAC) and a 'High Resolution Synchronisation' (HRS) link socket which connects to a similar one on the HK 990. This is a good idea that's been used before, sending a clock from converter to transport , so that jitter is no longer a critical issue in the digital interface. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi

Let me preface this by saying I am a long-time fan of Harman Kardon; I've been purchasing and enjoying their products since the 90's. (My HK 3470 receiver, for example, still works like a dream.) Jag tror inte att jag har hört bättre upplösning från en cd-spelare tidigare. Ljudet är skönt öppet, luftigt och sammetslent. Precisionen i ljudbilden är mycket hög - säkert det maximala jag kan få ut ur mina högtalare och min förstärkare. Röster låter helt underbart, det finns massor av övertoner i röster samt i sträng- och blåsinstrumenten. Akustiska instrument låter väldigt fint... där finns värme och mycket fina detaljer. I have this unit in the kitchen with my HK 3480 receiver. I didn't want a dvd/cd player seeing that I will only be listening to music. I also wanted a single disk player where the quality goes into the mechanics of the single disk player instead of multi function/disk transport systems. Simple, yet of high quality and affordable.
