The Canon Ixus 1100 HS is a logical update of the 1000 HS, with a slightly more powerful zoom, a touchscreen interface and a toned-down design. We were excited to receive the Canon IXUS 1100 HS digital compact camera as the specification looks impressive, and actually holding the camera in front of us we were inclined to agree. It meets all your expectations in terms of looks, start-up times, features and technology. The 12x optical zoom will benefit everyone using the camera along with the wide-angle 28mm setting. I am a Canon fan. I have owned several of their pocket shooters and always recommend them to friends and family - and still do, just not this one. I purchased this camera with high hopes. On paper, the specs look great.. In reality, it falls short. -As with most point and shoots, the startup time to first image capture is slow. My SD1100 is faster. -Too many blurry images. I bought this camera for our upcoming trip to Italy. We wanted something light but would get great pics. This one does. The seller we bought it from saved us about $40. We additionally bought an inexpensive case designed for this camera (for about 6 bucks) which is leather with belt loop. We added a memory card which will give us 5000 pics. I bought this camera for when I went on holiday to New York. In general it is a great camera, the 12x optical zoom range came in very useful while I was in New York and the majority of my photos have come out great due to the great quality, I am really pleased I bought this camera. I bought this camera because I am left handed, and wanted a sub-compact digital camera that is easy to use. Although the controls are on the right (shutter, zoom, and playback) I thought using the touch sensitive screen with my left hand would be useful, and it is, BUT I wish there was an option to flip the controls on the screen for a left handed person!
