    Although the upconverting Samsung DVD-H1080R lacks somewhat in quality and reliability, it is a great compact DVD player that makes your DVD experience better than standard DVD players. It is flexible enough to support multiple formats, as well as direct-from-USB drive reading, yet affordable enough for the consumer on a budget. For the price, this model is a bargain.     I wanted a simple DVD player for my bedroom - and because it was only going in my bedroom I really didn't want to spend a fortune. I had previously had an Alba DVD player in my room - a very very cheap one that I was really impressed with as it cost me less than £20.00, but as with many cheap products it didn't last an eternity.     I bought this Samsung DVD H1080 in the middle of last year when I upgraded my TV to a new HD set and got Sky HD to go with it. I thought I might as well complete the set by getting a DVD player with HD features and not knowing much about DVD players, I had previously had my player for quite some time, so pretty much bought the first one I saw.     This DVD player is a total piece of junk. It worked ok for about 3 or 4 months at most.. now it's constantly having issues where the screen goes black momentarily while watching a DVD and the TV seems to switch in and out of whatever mode it is in - as it shows the resolution, etc. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this one, mine is going in the trash.
