    Historically, the racing and platforming genres haven't been comfortable bedfellows, except in rare cases like the time-attack levels featured in Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog games. The key there is that Sega simply took an excellent side-scrolling platformer and added a split-screen race mode to it.     Glance over to the right, and you should notice the genre this game falls under. Popeye: Rush for Spinach is the first racing game that I’ve played to have no mode of transportation besides the character's own legs. Sonic could easily fit the bill, but as fast as he is, his is an action game, not pure racer.     Popeye? As in, Popeye the Sailor Man? A video game about Popeye? In 2005? Ok, I’ll bite. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi

    • Better than average graphics, Some catchy tunes, Sort of fun for a while
    • Completely ridiculous and stupid plotline, Unreasonably frustrating, Gets really boring really fast

    The design and implementation of Popeye: Rush for the Spinach is unlike anything on the current portable market, but uniqueness does not always equal a good game experience. The graphics capture the charm of the beloved cartoons series, but the repetitive game structure hampers the overall gaming experience.     Today's lesson is a lesson in the greatness of Gameboy Advance emulation. I can download games I know I won't enjoy just so I can trash them in a review and be safe in the knowledge that it won't have cost me one thin dime for the privelage.
