   Similar to the Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 proved to be a solid performer without any spectacular strengths nor weaknesses except a positive peak at its 28mm setting. The level of distortions is pretty low for such a lens and vignetting isn't overly pronounced. Due to the 1.6x cropping factor on APS-C DSLRs the range is quite unexciting here but if you're looking for a compact short tele-zoom with IS to compliment an ultra-wide zoom ... At the wide side of the zoom range, the lens offers an OK overall performance, but the quality degrades drastically towards the telephoto range.    This is a workhorse, basic zoom. I use it on my video camera (Panasonic AF100 with an adaptor.) It has a nice range. My only complaint it is a slow lens. At the long end, it's a 5.6, but for the money, I think it's ok. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi

   This lens is fantastic! It is by far my favorite lens to use. I'm a hobby-photographer and can't afford the thousand dollar lenses, so after a recommendation from a photographer friend of mine, I bought this one because it was actually within my budget.    We bought this lens to go with my wife's EOS 500D as we didn't fancy the kit lenses on offer with the camera body. It proved to be a wise choice. Landscape and other wide-angled applications are not really her field of interest so the zoom range is ideal. The lens has a good feel to it - the zoom and focus rings are firm and smooth, the zoom barrel sits firmly in place with no creep, while autofocus and IS perform superbly.    Having bought his for a cannon with a crop factor of 1.6 I was concerned that it wouldn't be wide enough. But first impressions are great. The lense is producing great photo's and the zoom length is ideal. This now is stored on the body all the time. For the price as the L range is out of my price range this is a fantastic piece of kit.    When I first bought this lens in late 1990's, I love it. A few yrs. later, we dropped a Canon AE1 film camera ,the 28-135mm, & flash unit attached, from height of 4.5 ft...all needed repair. A few wks. after repair the Image Stablizing feature started vibrating (Buzzing) and was sent back in at least 3 times...this problem will not stay fixed. and using the IS results in badly blured images....so we use it with out the IS.
