lenses), extending the focal length of the lens by a noticeable 1.4x. The 1.4x III is a small and light addition to your kit, an only moderate hit on your wallet and it provides a noticeable increase in your focal length. Sounds like a great deal, but this (and all) extenders are not completely without downsides which I'll discuss throughout the Canon EF 1.4x III Extender review. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
I own a 70-200 mm f4 and found that I needed that extra length in zoom for specific photographs. I decided to purchase this extender and to be honest it did the job. However the aperture is disadvantaged and the lens with the extender needs a great deal more light.

All in all the extender works well during the day and captures the detail you need, but during the night it doesn't do as well. The new pro camera bodies (1X and 5D mkIII) are reported to only auto focus up to f5.6, so the MkIII 2x Extender will only give auto-focus with f2.8 lenses, thus excluding the new 500mm and 600mm f4 lenses. Canon are throwing nature photographers, who need as much focal length as possible under a bus, as the maximum will be 840mm (the 600mm with the 1.4x extender). Hope that other manufacturers fill the hole in the market. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
Works beautifully with the 70-200mm f/4 IS, which is a very sharp lens to start with. I use it routinely for bird watching, using it with the 7D as a telescope to give about 5x magnification, and then blowing up on the screen for study in the hide, adding an extra 40% in linear size and 100% in area. A definite increase in resolution on later printing. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
