The Nikkor AF 24mm f/2.8D didn't really convince during the tests due to various shortcomings. The resolution figures were generally very decent and there's only a slight degree of barrel distortions. However, the lens shows very high vignetting at f/2.8 and very pronounced CAs. Spherical aberrations (focus shifts when stopping down) on top don't make things any better. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
Originally posted 2006-12-27 on Optyczne.pl After the launch of cameras equipped with APS-C/DX class sensors, it got rather quiet around 24 mm devices. Perhaps the silence was a bit undeserved. On full frame such instruments provide a quite wide angle of view, equal of as many as 84 degrees. When you use 1.5x multiple that angle decreases to 61 degrees but still this is a quite good result, making the lens an equivalent of a classic 35 mm device on FF. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
While I hope to create a full Nikon 24mm f/2.8D AF Lens, my first priority is to include results from this lens in the lens comparison tools available on the site. This page currently exists because it is required by the database and content management systems for me to post information and standard results for the Nikon 24mm f/2.8D AF Lens. I did a "save as" on my 20/2.8 review so if you've already read that, you're going to be experiencing deja vu all over again... There isn't a whole lot to say about a fixed 24 lens. Nikon's is sharp and contrasty. All of Nikon's "very wide" lenses have "close-range correction" (CRC). This is a "floating element" that moves relative to the other pieces of glass inside the lens as you focus. Most lenses just move a whole rack of optics in and out as you focus. YakiCam has be extremely helpful in the process. I corresponded with them a couple of times, and each experience was pleasant. I would definitely buy with them again. Product comes as described. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
I take a lot of macro shots of plants, but this lens is really useful for placing the subject in its environment. It is so light that carrying it around as an extra is no effort. For my purposes a wider maximum aperture lens would be a waste of weight and money even if its absolute performance would be better. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
The first thing I noticed about this lens is its weight. When it comes to photography equipment this is always a good sign. The second thing is its sharpness. I love prime lenses, they can't be beaten by zoom ones. The only reason why I didn't give it five stars is that I consider it a little bit too expensive. Otherwise, if you are looking at this lens you know what you're after. You won't be disappointed. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
For a wide angle, my options were the 20mm f/2.8, 28mm f/2.8, 35mm f/1.8 and 35mm f/2. I own the 50mm f/1.8 & 18-55mm af-s VR. My camera is DX format. My 50mm is too long of a focal length sometimes, and the 18-55mm is slow, sometimes horrible with color fringing or pictures would look muddy. 24mm = 36mm on DX format, so it's great for wide and general use! I didn't choose 35mm because it was too similar in focal length with the 50mm. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
I bought this lens to take indoor photos at family gatherings, weddings things like that. It delivers and some, super sharp and fast enough to hand hold indoors. You can't go wrong with any of Nikon's fixed lenses so if this focal length is what you need buy it!!! Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
