   I use a D40 and the only available 50mm prime with AF-S was the 1.4g, which I didn't want to spend over $400.00 for, being that I don't use the camera often. Note: The D40 doesnt have a lens motor so if auto focus is needed, then the lens must be an AF-S. The 1.8g takes great all around photos with great DOF. Portrait shots especially, which I get the most compliments for. The only thing that's tricky are small, crowded areas since the lens has no zoom. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi

   Om objektivet Ett fast 50mm objektiv med en stor bländaröppning, f1,8. Detta gör objektivet ljusstarkt och med ett fint, kort skärpedjup. Både autofokus och manuell fokus kan användas på alla Nikons digitala systemkameror. Har en närgräns på 45 cm, vilket är ganska nära. Saknar bildstabilisator, men detta är inget som behövs då man oftast fotar med stor bländaröppning och kort slutartid. Har en diameter på 58 mm och väger endast 185 g. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi

   It may be 'Made in China', but the quality of this lens is excellent from f4 to f16, with razor-like sharpness, good contrast and little chromatic abberations. It is a bit soft when wider than f4, and pretty poor at f1.8, but the bokeh (background blur) is most pleasant. I acquired this lens to make walkabout much easier on my shoulder (on a D3s), and I've really enjoyed using it. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi

   För vad det levererar i bildkvalitet till det låga priset är detta en höjdare. Skärpan är riktigt bra och byggkvaliteten överraskade positivt eftersom jag tidigare har ägt Canonkameror och använt Canons motsvarighet. Visst, Canons fasta 50mm/1,8 är billigare men känns mer som ranglig plastbit i jämförelse. En fördel med objektivet är att det inte expanderar vid fokus vilket i kombination med filter och den inbyggda gummipackningen gör det lite mer väder/smutsbeständigt. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi

   There is nothing I can say which hasn't been said in the reviews already. The lens is lightweight, has astounding crispness and bokeh, fast and silent AF, etc etc. Bottom line: if you're into portraits, regardless of a DX or FX body this lens is a must have.
