   We already feared to publish poor results but the Sony E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS performed better than expected on the NEX 7 with its difficult 24 megapixel sensor. The lens is surely not remotely capable of exploiting the potential of this sensor but the results are generally decent - at least from a real world perspective.    I'm sure if the price tag on this lens was $850 like their 70-300G Alpha lens it wouldn't surprise anyone. This is a finely machined metal and rubber lens that fits in your hand like a Italian leather glove. Extension and retraction of the lens is butter smooth. It just speaks quality to you when used.    I purchased this lens with some trepidation since i was unsure of its performance. Was I surprised! This is one of the best lenses I own and I do own two Sony-Zeiss lenses. Its performance is outstanding. It delivers very sharp images and exceptional contrast and color. It's a bit long when mounted on my NEX-5 but handles quite well.
