It's larger, heavier, curvier, and so sophisticated that you'll almost certainly need to read the chunky 140-page manual to work it out.    If you are serious about your photography, this is a must have. The flash makes the SB-800 feel like a relic. The light patter function is very effective and versatile. This unit is also much more powerful than the last flag ship. The commander mode works flawlessly as expected. The automatic gel recognizing feature is very useful.    Yes, this is a little bigger and clunkier than I like, but otherwise this is an amazing flash that is well worth the extra money compared to an SB-800. My SB-800 is relegated to off-camera CLS slave duty only now due to its cumbersome mode change process. Being able to switch in a second from TTL only, to master or to slave is ESSENTIAL for event photographers with quickly changing real-world situations. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi

   I just set up a great home portrait studio. Great output, fancy controls, nice features overall. On the negative slide, I have some great older strobes that have flash sync and would love to use them with this unit by having them fire off of flash sync with the SB900 but that is not possible unless I trigger my SB900 by cord to my camera. I cannot use the remote commander mode to do it because it emits a pre-flash that fires my older strobes at the wronge time. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi
