   The Barracuda Green 2TB is a compromise between low power 5400 RPM drives and standard 7200 RPM models.    I put two of these into a new Readynas Ultra (RNDU2000) and they are excellent. They run very quiet andcool, thus the fan on the NAS cn remain whisper quiet.<br /><br /> <br /><br /> They doo exactly what they say on the tin and have the added bonus of being on the 'supported hardware' list from Netgear.<br /><br /> <br /><br /> These are Sata III drives but work flawlessely in my Sata II specification NAS.    I have had good success with seagate hard drives... until now. I bought this Green Drive and it was really cool. That is until it died on me. And, to make matters worse, it died six days after the return period with amazon had ended. So, now I am stuck with a $130 paperweight. I would recommend that you NOT purchase this particular hard drive. I have two 1.5 TB seagate hard drives in my system that have been in use for more than a year without any problems. 5. Fastest 5900rpm drives
