   LaCie's latest 500GB external desktop hard disk has a blue neon activity light and glossy black enclosure. Unlike the other desktop disks in the group, this hard disk has only a USB Hi-Speed interface and not FireWire or eSATA.    This drive is fine. I like the way it looks on the desktop and it seems fast enough. Some people complained about the noise, but this doesn't bother me. I don't like how quickly it goes to sleep. Also, Have an older DV camera in addition to my HD camera which has a mini firewire to standard firewire 400 cord. This drive won't accept the firewire 400 male input without a 400 to 800 adapter or mini to 800 cord. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi

   This is the first LaCie product I have owned although the company's great reputation is well know to me. The machine is attractive although that does not matter much. What matters is its performance which has been sterling. It is easy to setup and after "telling it" when to backup the hard drive, it does so without interfering with normal computer activities.    after looking around for a 2TB raidable HD for some time I cam across this LaCie drive. It offers more than adequate storage for both my macs and enough left over to store my entire DVD library. As an added bonus it looks better than almost all of the other HD's I have seen. PC connection not only had the best price I had found they also had it in stock. Lue Lisää Translate to suomi

5. Our first failed drives out of the box

   The electrical plugs have been changed with the newest drives we've purchased. Normally, the transformer is in-line in the power cord which makes plugging into any outlet very easy. The new ones, however, have the transformer at the outlet plug end of the cord. We can no longer just plug the drives in to a power strip and get to work.
